OH MY GOD. IT IS LIKE DEATH OUTSIDE. Escape to the basement is most welcome, but I have to go put some tape on boxes upstairs... noooooo. Ho #2's fam is coming round for dinner, and we have made summer pudding. Mmm, cold desserts. But the point remains: HOT LIKE DEATH.

With apologies for lollybloggery; only one Internet connection in Casa Jessica nowadays, divided among four people, means fewer updates. :S

Boopsie and I were EXCITED to be in Ireland! I was so excited, in fact, that now that I'm home I have published so damn many photos that you can't even see them all on the main page, but instead have to click the "Old Banality August 2005" thing to see all the excitement! Isn't that exciting?!

Our second cousins Aine and Niamh on the Portstewart Prom, with ice cream and therefore contentment.

Looking from the sand dunes (so awesome! They are full of neat flora and the National Trust is looking after them beautifully) out toward Newcastle on the next peninsula over.

Absolutely the nicest weather I have ever seen in Portstewart. Typically the wind blows so cold and hard that you do not want to get out of the frigid water, even though you are not sure whether you still have toes, just because the wind-chilling is that bad But today was nice.

Me, Mum, Boopsie, our friends Hubert and Eleanor, and Grannie. And Pip, the excellent retriever.

Fambly on Sliabh Liag, a beautiful mountain with a terrifying road up it, scarcely wide enough for one car and running along the edges of precipices. From left: Elise, Grannie, Dad, Mum.

In beach signage as in life...

This was the biggest "wtf?" moment of the trip. For the record, Lapland is where Father Christmas lives.

Hee!

Baaaad sheep inside the fences of Magilligan Prison. Naughty woolies!

This gorgeous little plant is called Enchanter's Nightshade. We found it in the woods around an old great house just down the road from Grannie's house in Portstewart.

So pretty! (Derry folk village area)

This is the house where my grannie lived for 37 years. Derry (or Doire if you're being Gaelic) is off on the horizon -- you can see that darn cathedral spire again. The new owner has spiffed the house up significantly, but the cows are still in the fields on the property, and so I am content.

Our day trip to Derry (the day of the crazy shoe-shopping) ended with a drive up to the top of a hill overlooking the town. You can see the spires of the cathedrals In the foreground is Boopsie.

We went slightly mad in the Clarks store one day. Here, we have seven pairs plus one.

Dadski on the fire escape/balcony of the utterly lovely B&B where we stayed on the last night of our visit. It was right near the Belfast airport, which was fabbo.

The majesty of Greenland!
