OK, you guys? I have some bad news. I think I'm going to die. The past couple of days, the side of my tongue has really hurt and I looked at it and discovered that I have some kind of creepy sty infectious thing there. It's white and red and about the size of one of those round plastic pinheads. This is rather disgusting, is it not? If this disgusts you, please skip down to the "lalala"s, from which point the post will no longer be disgusting. Bad tongue. Ouch. I hope I don't get blood poisoning from it and turn purple and swell up and drop dead... or do I? I don't deserve to, certainly, just for biting my tongue by accident.

Lalalalala! La! Lalala!

All the people who skipped to this point are wussies. Come on, blood poisoning? Purpleness? Swelling? Pinheads? Not that gross! Anyway, the other minor disaster in my life is that I can't find my keys. Yes, the keys I need to get into my locker at work. I have a spare housekey but that is not so much helpful when I need my stupid green smock, now is it? My greatest fear on this front is that I carried out the monumentally idiotic, sit-com, vaudeville act of leaving the keys in the smock pocket, then locking them in. So, if I go to work with bolt cutters and a hacksaw tomorrow, it's not because I have a grudge against my co-workers and wish to give them a painful, protracted end. It's just that I'm stupid.

Yarrrr.

However, despite being a Key Loser I am no longer a Bad Friend, because I have seen Katie, Colleen and Keith in the past few hours! They came over and we... looked at photos and took photos and laughed hysterically and ate peach melba. Mmmm. Twas fun. At the same time as being a Good Friend, though, I'm also a Bad Girlfriend because it's been almost two weeks since I've seen El Tomato. Bitchin', non? Oh, and I told him I could get a few given days off to go camping and he took them off too, and guess what! No, really, guess. Okay, I'll tell you: I'm not going camping those days because I haven't asked for them off and I'm going to two dinners with friends of the family instead! And then I'm considering going hiking with Katie and Keith a week later! Hahaha! I love my life, really. Though they have said I can invite El Tomato if I wish. So that could work out well. But I'm very, very tired and make no sense at all. Mission accomplished! Goodnight, gentle reader!

WOO! NAZARETH! Heh heh... K-Days today was fun. I've gone on multitudes of upside-down rides, been winked at by Dan McCafferty, marveled at Dave's bikini-girl t-shirt glory, and jumped up and down. Seriously, though: Nazareth. Fricken amazing, if you ask me (I am too tired and cigarette-smoke-smelling to be coherent).

Alberta Summer Games this weekend were uber-fabulous. Unfortunately, I suck, but that's really no big thing. Somebody had to come last in 800 and 1500. My 3000 was better, because I'm more about the distance than the speed. There were so many cool people there! I may even learn to put photos up on the Net just so the readership can see the faces of the fabulous people.

I have just one parting word for tonight: Razamanaz!

Current mosquito bite tally: Eleven.

So... the last post appears to have been so tremendously tedious that it has garnered no comments. Scratch the bitchiness of the previous commentary -- it was sort of a boring post. Hooray, another catalogue of meaningless digits. Does this define my life now?Answer: no. My life is also defined by knowing nothing about rock music. Tom quizzed me the other night and was heard to screech "No! No, no, no, Jess. Jess, Jess, Jess," at my sheer ignorance. And then, "Okay, try to name the second lead singer for Led Zeppelin."

"Umm... Dave somebody? No. Um..."

I've been freaking out very slightly over the past few days. It all seems to be falling apart again suddenly. After ten hours of sleep I'm still exhausted (the day I felt most refreshed I slept ten hours at night, then took a three-hour nap in the afternoon). Sunday, I forgot to go to work. Which was okay, actually, cos nobody seemed to care that much when I got there. All I'm concerned about is that they'll dock my pay for the hours that I didn't, you know, work. Though they don't seem to be paying me for the half-hour extra I have to stay to cash out. Capitalist bastards, oppressing the workers... I want to join the SCWP. Tom and I won't see each other for the rest of the week (Summer Games -- woot!), and I had a weeping fit with my mum and dad looking on sympathetically and mouthing platitudes. They want to help and can certainly be very practical and such, but I just need to get more cheerful on my own, thanks. Mum's theory is that I'm still recovering from my exertions of April, May, and June. Thanks, Mum. I know I'm just a helpless, delicate flower.

Shopping Sunday with a fellow member of the Androgynoushood definitely helped, even if it was the cause of me missing work. No, actually, the cause of me missing work was me being stupid, not shopping.  Not only do I have fabulous, professional clothes, I also learned that Sears sells some enchantingly heinous shirts! And the slut dresses we tried on at Le Chateau were Something Else Entirely. Slutty Secretary, meet Tango Slut! Tango Slut, Slutty Secretary! My brain just about melted and ran out my nose from even looking at some of the stuff there... Anyway, thanks for setting that up, Ho #2.

That brings me, sort of, to another impending failure in my life: My Facey friends. I haven't talked to the following people in person for nearly a month now: Bev, Heather, Andrea, Katie, Colleen, Kim (to be fair, she's been in Mexico -- welcome back, dear!), Other Kim, Chris, etc, etc, etc. I'm forgetting some names, I'm sure. Comes with not being a good friend, and all. For heaven's sake, Colleen may have already MOVED by now! And I don't know! WHAT KIND of a best friend AM I?! I haven't even e-mailed her! Does she even read this blog? I don't KNOW! It's very, very bad. Actually, I've been a terrible friend to both her and Katie this year. Tom's degenerate friends have slowly endeared themselves to me and I can now tolerate them with equanimity, indeed there are many whose company I quite enjoy, but in getting closer to them I feel like I've just drifted away. Katie, Colleen, and co. are still doing their delightful preppie outdoorsy/drama freak thing and I'm all over the map: neither a jock, nor an outdoorsperson, nor a drama kid, nor a degenerate, nor a prep, nor in the high social caste, nor a total loser.  It's quite silly, actually, but I fancy myself an enigma, and I think I'm confusing them. Or something. Anyway, we're all changing, and I just want to be sure we do it gracefully.

It's late and I have track tomorrow. I'm making dinner with Elise at ten in the morning, then going to track, then going to work. Come visit me if you dare, for I am both bored and boring. My teachers have come to visit five times between them and I challenge the readership to do its bit as well. I leave you with Wednesday's Monty Python Calendar page:

RSM: Pointed sticks! Ho ho ho. We want to learn how to defend ourselves against pointed sticks, do we? Getting all high and mighty, eh? Fresh fruit not good enough for you, eh? Oh, well, well, well, I'll tell you something, my lad. When you're walking home tonight and some homicidal maniac comes at you with a bunch of loganberries don't come crying to me.
... You two, come at me with raspberries, there you are, a whole basket each. Come on, come at me with them, then!
Second man: No gun?
RSM: No.
Second man: No sixteen-ton weight?
RSM: No.
Fourth man: No pointed stick?
RSM: Shut up.

A Bulletin of Woot!osity. AP exam results are in, and I am glad that I refrained from going all Hotline For Anal Retentive Control Freaks Who Need To Know NOW! because really it was only a couple of days to wait.

So, the news is good: Fiveses in biology, English language & composition, and English language & literature, and a four in European history (strangely enough, the only one I actually studied for). Equally strangely, the transcript is missing the mark for my French language exam... Nicht so gut. It's true I wrote that exam late, but I wrote English language at the same time as the French exam, and that's on my score report... Maybe the exams with a spoken component take for-friggin-ever to mark?

Ooh! Exciting! Looking at some of the score report info, I see that I will be an AP National Scholar if I get 4 or 5 on the French exam. So really it all hinges on the grade that I don't know yet.

If I get a 3 I'm going to kill something.

In other news, saw the camp-fest delight "Bubba Ho-Tep" tonight with Laura and Tom. Crazy great insanity, and I'll never think of Elvis, mummies, or JFK quite the same way again.

It's taking every ounce of my self-control not to make an eight-dollar call to the College Board AP scores hotline so I can know my grades. Well, I don't need to spend eight bucks on a phone call to spare myself waiting an extra week. Seriously, I don't!

Do I?

GAAAARRR! JESSICA SMASH! My blog keeps eating my posts. Stupid blog. Die, blog... well, don't die. How about just work like you're supposed to, please?

A Bulletin of Joy. Starting soon, I'm starting another blog, for the consumption of the general public, about my Excellent Ottawa Adventure. I may call it just that, "The Excellent Ottawa Adventure", or it may be the Ottawa Diaries, or it may also be "Capital, Capital" (because Carleton is, after all, Canada's Capital University), or perhaps the simple "Ms McClay Goes to Ottawa". Any input is helpful, as my indecision is slightly crippling at the moment. There will be a link to it from here, but not vice versa. This is because it will be a bland sort of thing that my grannie will be able to read, general updates on The Life I Lead. Hopefully this Life will be free of shagging neighbours.

Though there are no guarantees.

Also on the PUTSA blog: Last night I played D & D with Caseyn, Tory, Paul, and (of course) Tom. Twas fun, though I have no idea what actually happened. Apparently my character levelled up to level 3... is that good?

(Edited to make sense.)
