Yay! Blogger finally let me back in.
Snowboarding last weekend was super duper fun and I am still gleefully bruised. Hmm... what's going on in my life? Well, I signed up for five AP exams. Someone please smack me on the head and chastise me. I'm putting together two song lists -- a Rainy Day CD and Songs to Dance To As Though Possessed. Both should be enjoyable.
Also enjoyable should be Laura's birthday party -- huzzah!

Yesterday I spent all day tooling uselessly around Whyte Ave with Devin, who annoys me sometimes. She told me I talk a lot about six times. We all know it's a truth, right, but most of us are polite enough not to comment on it! Then I went to dinner at Momo, this adorable little Korean restaurant down the street from the U of A Education building. Then, while Elise was at fencing, Mum and I looked for grad shoes for me. We didn't find anything in that department, but I did buy shoes that look like pink ballet slippers. They even lace up. I have never been happier.

Except that Tom is in Germany. He's only been gone 23 and a half hours, but I miss him already. *Cue sad whingeing about how life is empty, etc.* It'll be okay -- he's probably having fun. He threatened to pick up German girls, but I told him that if he does that I'm booking a flight to Australia and picking up a surfer.

My sympathies to Jeanne's hand, even though I don't actually know what's wrong with it.

Hurray! Today I leave for the mountains and a delightful weekend of snowboarding in Jasper. Despite what Colleen says about Marmot, I like it, and don't think it's too small or boring. Au contraire, it's a nice little place and better designed than Sunshine. And hopefully I won't spend the entire weekend dragging Elise out of snowbanks, but you know, if that's how it turns out I'll just scream at her until she moves herself. Such a caring sister am I. I mean, I don't mind teaching folk to snowboard, especially after Katie was so saintly to me two years ago on the school ski trip when I... was more obedient to the commands of gravity, shall we say. I scraped down the mountainside on my knees and she never got too far ahead of me, despite being an expert skier. So I try to be forbearing, although I occasionally succumb to temptation and go whooshing out of sight. So sue me. It'll be nice to go back to Marmot, though: Elise will probably be able to handle that a little better than Sunshine, which has enough flat bits that I was having trouble getting down the hill (especially as, often, the hill was going up rather than down). Also we haven't been there all year and we all kind of miss it.

Another chills attack this morning at around 6. Heating pads are a very good thing as long as you are awake enough to find the one at the end of your bed.

If anyone understands entropy, please step forward. I know that it involves randomness... but Gibb's Free Energy just makes me think of the first matey pirate from PotC. "So he roped a couple o' sea turtles, lashed 'em together, and made a raft!"

Trala. Last night was great fun -- Colleen and I went out for dinner, then Christina joined us to watch Robin Hood: Men in Tights, which is a piece of cinematic genius starring the puckish Cary Elwes. I will never be able to say that name again without thinking of Pratter's proclamation at the Model UN banquet: "I know he's like 15 years older than us, but I'd still totally send myself to him naked in a birthday cake!" She's a funny one, that Pratter.

As soon as the gals left, however, I came down with some kind of fever and shivered and quaked for hours. What is the deal? I feel better now, but my back is sore from being so tense (shivering and quaking do that). Electric hot pads rule... oh the warm comfort of not freezing to death under 3 layers of blankets!

Well, this is satisfying, especially as I don't feel up to bellowing much today.

What Is Your Battle Cry?

Running on the candy store, carrying a studded crowbar, cometh Jessica McClary! And she gives a spectacular bellow:

"I'm going to brutalize you until you turn magenta, and sever every head in sight!!!"

I have that distinct Monday feeling; that the weekend was great but maybe not as great as it could have been with better planning and execution. Birthday parties are muy fun, but two in one weekend causes one to wake up Monday with a splitting headache. Or maybe that was the doing of Sunday's "Nineteen Eighty-four" midnight reading session.

The Saturday night birthday party in honour of me, Katie, and Colleen was quite entertaining, though there was more drinking than I approved of... beer bongs are disgusting. I mean, the party was fun at the time, but afterwards I just felt sort of silly. Jessica Rivers, Chris, and Cynthia all got quite smashed and wandered around being loud and/or stupid and/or very nice to everyone. Chris forgot his glasses and only got them back this morning. I do have a few regrets:
1) That I didn't keep a close enough eye on Alex. He drove off after a couple of beers and I don't know if he was okay. I mean, he's probably fine but he was just being such an asshat. "Nobody drives my truck but me!" I haven't seen him since, so I don't actually know if he's dead or not. If he is I can't feel guilty because Katie and I tried to take his keys off him. He wasn't staggering or anything, but he's a seasoned drinker so he probably hides it well.
2) We didn't have enough non-alcoholic beverages on hand, so people drank coolers all night. I would have been happy with fruit juice or pop, but Colleen (in charge of pop) brought only one bottle of Sprite. Once again, can't feel too guilty.
3) I didn't go totally off the deep end and get absolutely smashed. One of these days I'll do it, and then my mum and dad will be very disappointed in me, I'll have the worst hangover ever, and it'll suck.
4) I didn't fight to invite Jeanne, Laura, Katie (well, you wouldn't have wanted to come anyway), Becca, Luke, and co. You guys are wicked awesome and would be an asset to any party. This is the one I really feel guilty about.

That said, Jeanne's party was more fun than mine, or at least didn't have that whiff of the illicit which can be so upsetting to the more sissy among us (me). I was thrilled that she seemed thrilled with her present, and it was good to see her again after such a long hiatus (note-writing can only go so far). I must invite her over for a Wingathon... perhaps Saturday night? I'm thinking of ways to get out of going to a show with Devin. Loud music is fun and all but I think I'd rather stay home. Laziness uber alles!

I'm very excited about this result:

Hey, all! Dammit. Jen Morton's parents seem to have given "my" job away. Bah! Now I have to actually make my own way in the world. Worse luck!

The six-month anniversary (demianniversary?) with Tom is Saturday, also the day of the three-host birthday party. If I didn't invite you, I'm incredibly sorry, and you are probably one of my best friends, but there were two other people in charge of the guest list and they wanted to invite lots of Facey people also. I feel bad about it, but not too bad because some of y'all wouldn't get along. Actually, scratch that, I feel really bad about not inviting all of the folk.

I'm trying to get into a limousine for grad. I don't know. There are two possibilities: a limo-bus for 21 people, which I would have to book into NOW, NOW, NOW, because otherwise there won't be any spaces left, or a regular limo with Katie & Keith and Dustin & Marissa. What thinkest ye?
